A new study found when exposed to hot water, many everyday plastic products that meet all safety standards can still release trillions of nano plastics. These particles are smaller than a micrometer, which is one millionth of a meter. They're often 20 or irty nanometers across. The average nane particle size was 30 to 80 nano meters with some outliers being around 200 nano meters. All the products were still within fda levels for plastics but we can't be sure yet how small they could be.
