The Confession of St. Patrick
The confession of St. Patrick is written late in his life, when he was an old man. He even apologizes that his Latin isn't amazing. It's available online if someone wanted to look up how they could read this confession. In some of the later legendary lives of Patrick, you see him kind of like doing battle with the Druids and things. The idea of writing a defense of yourself was a common practice back then.
