The History of Sarson Stones

Sarsan is the local silk crate so it's a kind of very hard sandstone. When they used to pop up there everybody did it you'd actually buy a hammer in the local town and go there and chip a bit off. A tremendous laser scan study which shows just how much has been nibbled away by those souvenir hunters in the last 300 years. All but two of them have come from 15 miles away to the north not far from Avbry, says David Nash.
