The Importance of Streaming Music

Revenue from the recorded music industry is two thirds of what it was in 2020 adjusted for inflation. But then there's a whole argument about how you distribute the money from streaming. Why does a player at a half hour track count the same as players as a three minute track, which is an issue for classical? What about all the people pumping Spotify with white noise and a spam? Does that count as 2000 plays? So there's a lot of like weird questions where there's not like a right answer to this.
