What Model Has Worked in Reducing Child Marriages?
The Perksow Act introduced the concept of mandatory reporting. Medical professionals must report each and every case of a teenage pregnancy where the girl is below 18 with the police if they have suspected that the pregnancy happened before the age of 18 years even if she is now 18, they have to report that as well. But in fear of triggering the criminal justice system a lot of girls don't go for hospital appointments and are instead encouraged to go to unsafe venues. The PCMA has said that these marriages are not invalid unless the minor comes and tries to annal them before the court.
