The club had mob ties especially when it was first opened during the prohibition era. Exits were locked or concealed with heavy velvet drapery emergency exits pricked up many windows locked or only one in or out. The owner hired teenage boys off the street to double as waiters, bouncers and whatever odd jobs. On this particular Saturday night the club was filled to more than twice It's legal capacity with over 1000 patrons partying inside too many people.
