The Civil Rights Investigation Into Harvard's Legacy Admissions Policy
The US Education Department has launched a civil rights investigation into Harvard's policy on legacy admissions. This is on top of civil rights groups already suing Harvard over the policy that gives preferential treatment to children of alumni. A recent study led by Harvard and Brown researchers found that students from the richest 1% of families are twice as likely to be admitted to elite schools.
