What Prompted You to Write the Book on Missing European Football?

I just happened to be the one who got there the right time. The book really becomes a story of how ideas travel. And what I found was that every country was pretty comfortable in its own tactical development, but nobody was really putting it into a more global sphere. So you then realize that actually the whole thing is to do with the rise of fascism and the other Hungarians and Austrians getting out which they become the names I'd go. Obviously now it's much more complex because the spread of information is much freer and much quicker and everything's not siloed like 100 years ago.
