The Girl Scout Murders
Mildred Ann Newlin Reynolds was still a relative newlywed on March 13, 1956. When she was just two miles from Hopeton, Oklahoma, for some unexplainable reason, she veered into the wrong lane and stopped. A bit after 1pm, a local farmer, Leroy Lancaster, noticed some smoke but didn't investigate because several folks in the area had been burning thistles.
