The Garden I Have Been Building for the Birds
Laura has been working on a garden for the birds at her home in New South Wales. She says it is one of her most ambitious gardens, but also thwarted by lack of time and other commitments. Her long absences mean the plants often battle against a springtime surge of grasses and seasonal weeds which slither unseen along runners under the surface to come up and choke my young plants. After stubbornly replanting designated plants on the plant a few times, only to see them die, she started to let the garden tell me how it should grow.
