How to Structure Cash Comp and Equity for High Level Employees
It's always a significant combination of both cash comp and equity. Are they in it for the long term or are they not? When somebody's negotiating heavy on the cash and low on the equity, guess what? They're probably not sticking around for more than a year max to if they're lucky. It's also so hard because you have no idea what their comp expectations are until you're a little bit further down the road than you would have expected. But I feel like with high level executives, you often want to be like, it's almost a little like dating where you want to get know them a little bit before you pop the question about this compensation package.
