The Effects of Lack of Sleep on Brain Activity
Matthew says a lack of sleep affects not only the quantity of food you eat, but also the quality. The part of the brain that performs impulse control and prevents rash decisions is shut down by an absence of sleep. In contrast, the very primitive, deep brain regions that drive excessive appetite are hyperactive when they're deprived of sleep.
