The History of James Burke and Tom Spoda

Two decades after James Burke's life intersected with Tom Spoda's during the Johnny Pius case in 1979, their lives collided once again. In 2001, Spoda ran for the Suffolk County District Attorney and won. One of his first acts in office was to transfer Burke into a special unit of investigators that operated out of the District Attorney's office. A couple of years later, Spoda promoted Burke again. He made the first inspector of the DA squad. That's a pretty high ranking official in the Suffolk County Police Department.
