The Kanamara Matsuri, the festival of the steel phallus is one of Japan's most bizarre festivals. According to legend a demon once sought revenge on a woman who rejected him by taking up residence inside her vagina and biting down on her husband's penis so that she was unable to procreate. A man turned up pretending to be the mascot of the penis festival, a big penis, but they're saying this ain't our penis. We don't have a mascot. So stop thinking this penis mascot has anything to do with us. The maker of the costume performed without permission, but took the costume off in the end so the shrine discarded it.
