Sepsis and LPS

Kavalon: Kevin Young and his team set up a model of systemic inflammation in sepsis. After 14 days, they took out the NK cells from mice that had been injected with PBS or LPS to look at their function. They saw lower interferon gamma response within the context of the spleen when stimulated by LPS. And it was even more apparent when they pulled them away from that immunosuppressive environment. Kavalon: So what's going on here is we're looking at epigenetic changes which play a large role in these met these, this trained immunity of a NK cell.
