The Chinese Government's Attitude Towards Alibaba and the Ant Group

The Ant Group IPO was supposed to be listed on both the Hong Kong stock market and the Singapore exchange. It was torpedoed by Chinese regulators following Jack Ma's criticism of the financial regulatory system here in China. And that is when Jack Ma disappeared from public site. He maintained a low profile, spending most of his time outside of China. But that all changed on March 27th this year when he resurfaced in his old stomping ground of Hangzhou. Alibaba announced they would split into six independent businesses, and that each company may pursue independent IPOs in the future.
