The Crater at Chicksalub in the Gulf of Mexico

Geologist has been able to drill into the underwater crater at chicksalub in the gulf of mexico, after it had been hidden under 66 million years of sediment. First clues to its existence had been from sismic exploration by oil companies taking ultra sound scans of the earth's sub surface. It created an impact winter that probably lasted ten or 15 years, dropping the global temperatures by 20 degrees cor more. The big story is understanding the chiklub event, where this 12 kilometer-long object came from and bombarded our world with material.
