Kevin McCarthy was elected speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday. He faced a tough re-election battle with 20 other Republicans, including some who were opposed to him from his own party. CNN's John Defterios says he has more clarity about what happened this week and why it took so long for things to get resolved. The fight is over rules changes that would make it harder to pass omnibus bills like spending increases or earmarks in Congress each year.
