The Future of Social Media

Social media, at its core was meant to expand our world. What happens if we continue down this road where there are fewer users per app with smaller circles and more niche interests? I think the problem with exposing people to just a wider variety of content indiscriminately is they can end up being exposed to really harmful content. It's actually very hard to create safe spaces on the internet unless it's invite only like discord or group chats places for marginalized communities rarely stay closed off so long.
