The Importance of Consistency in Data Fraud

A lot of the frauds that have been caught and they kind of proven at this point were ones where people just didn't understand sampling error and how noise should work. And I think that's a problem in the field in general. A lot of people don't understand that there's random variability. Sometimes get significant results by chance. Just because it was.05 once doesn't mean that was true at that moment at that time. People have this misconception that what I've observed is the truth for that. For that sample as opposed to the truth plus a lot of noise of some sort that might have worked in their favor.
