Introduction

Philosophers have traditionally celebrated reason. But according to the French social and cognitive scientist Dan Spurbur, it's not as simple as that. When you do experiments on reasoning, you see that people are really very bad at it. Another puzzling aspect is reason is supposed to be our best path towards truth. If so, it should cause people to convert on the same immune views and ideas. But quite often on the contrary, it tends to polarize the positions and disagreements.
