Rapa Nui - A Land of Trees and Trees
On arrival, the settlers worked together to create shelter and safety. The sweet potato is introduced around 1200 AD, a drought-resistant crop. Some men spend their days at sea in canoes built for deep water,. Others work in the palm forest, clearing large areas of trees to make space for agriculture. They introduce animals small enough to travel on canoes, including chickens and Polynesian rats.
