The imagination is the central revelation of Blake's work, I think. He describes the imagination as eternity ever expanding in the bosom of God. So there's these fantastical poetic mystical statements that demand to be unpacked. But certainly what it isn't, maybe we can start with what it wasn't, is a faculty of the mind.
