Putin likes having all these competing power centers, right? He's been on a bit of a power trip and criticized Putin's handling of the war. It got to a point where clearly Putin decided that this has gone too far now. We need to crush this particular acolyte. And then, yeah, it should be order that all military forces of whatever flavor come under the control of the Russian military. But as soon as you lose that monopoly of violence, your country is in a very, very, very precarious position.
