Exploring Identity and Healing Through Poetry

This chapter explores the journeys of Black teenagers diagnosed with schizophrenia, who used poetry as a means to express their emotions and identities amidst the challenges of being students in a predominantly white school. It highlights how their creative outlets not only provided therapeutic relief but also led to published works that address mental health and racism.
