Significance and Signification

A signification is a matter of language. A sign signals something like a red octagonal sign at an intersection means stop. The significance on the other hand, as opposed to signification, is a felt sense of meaningfulness and it isn't necessarily linguistic. What we normally think of as meaning is something that is both significant and significant. Something that conveys a verbalizable proposition, but also conveys that felt sense of Meaning.
