Is There a Long Term Trend of Housing Tracking Inflation?

Jay Parini: From 1900 to 1998, real estate values went up at the rate of inflation. He says from 2007 to 2012, housing has far outpaced inflation again. It's almost certain in my opinion that we're going to see a drop in housing values over the next couple of years, he says. Parini: I don't know if it's going to be kind of a 2008 type event or whether we just see kind of a flat line for the next five or 10 years.
