Husband had a weird attitude toward the popular violence that was this organized popular violence to kind of get control of the economy and make it less oppressive. He believed firmly in non-violence, which also just makes him so interesting because he regulated stuff back then when ordinary people didn't have the vote. The North Carolina regulation was put down by the royal governor of North Carolina with troops. Many people were hanged,. some were hanged, some merrily in the field, others were tried and hanged.
