The Social Effects of Nikab Wear on Racism and Sexism

Wearing the nikab can have social effects in a variety of ways. For black Muslim women who I spoke with, this was something that basically shielded them from racist reactions. A white convert to Islam told me that for her, for her, then the cab worked in a different way and she got a lot of interest when she was just wearing the hijab. But at the end of the day, you know, it's socially constructed perceptions that are kind of attached to people based on their background but not by biological means.
