The ICJ's Judgment on Climate Change

The ICJ has addressed various environmental issues in the past, but this is the first time that the global problem of climate change itself has come before the court. This is a really important moment for the world's highest court to deliver its judgment on the interpretation of climate change obligations. Even with the unanimous support of the UN General Assembly, the outcome of this case is by no means guaranteed. Still, simply being brought forth, the case has already accomplished one of its biggest goals.
