Lafayette and the Muskogee Nation

In Camden, South Carolina, local Freemasons invited Lafayette to lay the cornerstone for a monument to Baron DeKalb. As Lafayette continued south into Georgia, they found the native population living through their final days in their ancestral lands. The Muskogee recently reached the end of a long, losing campaign to resist encroachment by white settlers.
