John Defterios: You get a group of smart, knowledgeable people in a room and you get them to start discussing trends. He says there's a lot of social engineering that goes into picking the right people for these sort of activities. "We came up with a bunch of themes that we had running into the day that we thought was things that we wanted to focus on or think were key issues as we see them today," he says.Defterios: We brainstormed about 14 or 15 ideas before deciding which ones would be worth exploring further.
