What's the Difference Between Zero COVID and the Western Reporting?

I think it's really interesting to bring out because I think so often the Western reporting, what it misses out on is that the relationship between the state and the person is much more complicated than that. It's community volunteers, it's your neighbours, it's people not necessarily controlling your behaviour because they're an instrument of the state but because they're concerned about public health. You know, political scientists have long proposed various kind of concepts to understand the different aspects of authoritarianism. One of which is Professor Andrew Nathan's concept of resilient authoritarianism by which he means that the regime is resilient in several ways.
