The Deteriorating Situation

As the Goths cross the Danube into Roman territory, the Romans struggle to control the situation. Exploitation, price gouging, and the sale of children into slavery lead to increasing Gothic frustration, culminating in arrest and execution. In the midst of unrest, Fridigern turns against the Romans and leads his people to ravage Thrace.
