The Bee Gees and the Beach Boys

The Bee Gees scored one more top 40 hit in 1997 with the single Alone, a number 28 hit off a double platinum album Still Waters. By decades end, the Gibbs even became touchstones in hip hop, or at least with former Fuji's. After the breakup of his troupe, the Fuji's rapper Wyclef Jean led off his debut solo album The Carnival with We Trying to Stay Alive - a rap interpolation of the Bee Gees Stayin' Alive. One year later, Wyclef's fellow former Fuji, Praz Michel, borrowed the Gibbs smash 80's composition Islands in the Stream and turned it into a hip hop anthem Ghetto Superstar.
