The Health Benefits of Smoothies

A smoothie is made from blended whole fruits and vegetables. That means the flesh and pulp are retained, whereas with fruit juice only the juice is kept. This slows down sugar absorption, preventing harmful glucose spikes in the blood. A strawberry banana smoothie contains 1.2 grams of fibre per 100ml - that's 4 times more than your average fruit juice. But you should still limit your consumption to 150ml per day or a small glass.
