The Importance of Transference in Psychoanalysis
Psychoanalytic treatment does not create transference, it merely brings them to light. Transference becomes its most powerful ally if its presence can be detected each time and explained to the patient. It is only after the transference has been resolved that a patient arrives at a sense of conviction of the validity of the connections which have been constructed during analysis.
