Autophagy is the process by which your body makes new proteins. Dysregulated splicing activity can lead to dysfunctional autophagy or autophagic activity. Autophagy does not get bad because we age, it gets bad because of dysregulation. So as long as we keep autophagy working fine, then the aging process can be slowed down. In some cases, I would argue that in my personal case, where I was told, oh, you have five years left to live, and now I'm... 18 years since that initial diagnosis.
