The Importance of Diversity in Higher Education
The beauty of being able to be in higher education institutions that are diverse is that's one of the few places in our very, very residentially segregated society where people of different backgrounds come together. Affirmative action shouldn't be about creating the shiniest brochure with a token hijabi and black person laughing on a lawn. It should be about writing real wrongs that have been done in our country. There was a different possible answer which was essentially reparations. The reason why black people deserve affirmative action is look at all the ways in which they've been held back.
