How Confidence Determines the Choices We Make | Peter Atwater

Hidden Forces

CHAPTER

The Stress Center

A maximum security prison to me is the lower right hand corner of the box, because there you have absolute certainty but are completely powerless. And then lower right-hand box can be a very authoritarian environment. The thing about it is, once certainty becomes questioned, suddenly we can feel like we're in the stress center. So on an airplane, introduce turbulence, and we go from feeling like we're comfortable in the passenger seat to feeling like we's in the stressCenter. It becomes all about what's happening in our brain.
