i like how they did separate this out, was that just also because you're engaged doesn't mean you might be highly motivated. Engagement captures the part of motivation that is converted into action. A paper has to have an experiment that's simple enough that you can actually do it,. But engagement kind of comes down to how many times they use the ap every day, or how many words they review in the ap - which is a gross simplification of engagement.
