Is There a Connection Between Eliot and JD?

In the last episode, we learned that Eliot was you guys went on that quest to find out if she if the patient was still alive. She wants to figure out what's wrong with this young girl and why her kidneys are failing. One of her patients were killed him with diabetes. But I'm trying to figure out there could be a connection in both of them because the storyline is still very similar where. Eliot likes to go on quests with JD.
