Why Did You Have to Pay $5,000 in Taxes?
"I was shocked because that was like an important sum, not having any further income apart from those $350 that I was making bi-weekly," she says. "There's no like good orientation. Like you need to save this amount or you need to have, you just have to figure this out yourself." She had to pay more than $5,000 in taxes in the United States when her research fellowship ended.
