The Three Elements of a Pagan Prayer

All pagan prayers in Homeric literature and sagas have this format, which is essentially tripartite. They invoke the god with formal address, usually relating to mythological qualities. The second part of the prayer mentions qualities of the deity, which pertain to their ability or their inclination to answer that prayer. And you have to give reasons such as what offerings you are going to give to them after they have fulfilled what you request of them. That's how every pagan prayer, really. There are variations from culture to culture, but essentially, they all fulfill this format.
