The Different Types of Dementia

Alzheimer's disease, vascular dementia and frontotemporal dementia have different cognitive profiles at least early on. Different parts of our thinking and memory skills are affected in different ways by these different types of dementia. In Alzheimer's disease episodic memory seems to be the first part of thinking a memory that gets affected. This is why people with Alzheimer's disease have trouble making new memories but they're very good with stored memories.
