The former colonial empires that dominated the world when lenin wrote his book in 19 16 were fragmenting europe, britain, france, of course, spain, italy, holland, japan too. All these countries were basically torn apart by the war. Now it was global revolution, china, vitnam, corea, but also greece. The greek communists were fighting against the british backed reactionary government. And this had the effect of sort of putting the united states on the defensive. If anything, they feared a growing global confrontation as a consequence of this move to the left. Just like world war ended with revolution, a revolution
