The Different Types of Radiowaves
The band gap of the material determines whether or not you can absorb photons of a specific frequency. A sheet of metal, for example, is not transparent unless it's, I guess, a wire mesh. So that's why things like metals and conductors are good at conducting electricity and bad at being see-through.
