What Does That Mean?
If you had a contagious disease, all poor children who had lots of contagious disease in those days, yo, lived in no close quarters and tenements. Had to go to a hospital on thegas on the east river in manhattan, call willad willard park, a hospital for children with contagious disease. No penasilla, no sulpha, drugs, no treatment, no treatment for any contang of disease. Kids die all the time. Every day. And i can still remember when they put shut the lights out, when nurses walked in front of the light in the nurses quarters, it made shadows. So essentially i decided very consciously, i am going to survive. I
