Nero and the Fire

Reports began to crop up that a joyful Nero had plucked at his prized lyre while watching the city go down in flames. But were any of these rumors actually true? I tend to follow Tacitus on this because as biased as he is against Nero, he's usually reliable with his facts and he reports that Nero wasn't even in Rome at the time.
