The jewish leaders have not yet received any letter from the judean leaders about paul. This is language used over 30 times in luke's gospel, but only six times in the book of acts. Paul presents his case arguing from the law of moses and from the prophets. The whole scripture testifies that jesus is the christ. And some of them are in the process of being persuaded, but thers disbelieve. As a community, the jews make some promising moves in the direction of paul's message, but apart from a few exceptions, they turn away. There this prophecy precedes a statement of coming judgment. It might help to explain the force
